Polar raises $5.7M led by Madrona for an AI browser that hands office work to agents rather than chasing consumer search

Polar raised $5.7M in seed funding led by Madrona for an AI browser pitched at knowledge workers, built by CEO Kevin Jiang, who worked on Perplexity's Comet. The browser saves prompts, schedules recurring workflows, and hands tasks to agents that work off whatever tabs are already open, with sales, recruiting, marketing, and research as the targets. Polar is free with a few daily credits, and higher limits start at $20 a month. Jiang told TechCrunch the consumer version of that pitch never had legs, since people don't book flights or tables often enough to switch defaults, so Polar isn't chasing daily-driver status and most of its users open it only to run automations. Competition is lower than a year ago, with OpenAI's Atlas shut down, The Browser Company absorbed by Atlassian, and Comet redirected toward agents.
