payabl., a London-based financial technology provider that offers payment processing and business accounts for companies across Europe, launched a SoftPOS Tap to Pay solution that turns NFC-enabled Android smartphones into fully functional payment terminals, eliminating the need for dedicated card hardware. The solution supports PIN entry, e-receipts, refunds, reversals, and tips, and integrates with payabl.'s existing payabl.one dashboard so merchants can manage both online and in-person transactions from a single platform. The launch coincides with the U.K. scrapping its £100 contactless spending cap this month, allowing individual banks to set their own limits, as contactless payments already account for 94.6% of all in-store card transactions under that threshold across the U.K.
