Over 120,000 Fake Amazon Sites Target Shoppers Ahead of Prime Day

by | Jul 3, 2025 | E-commerce News

As Amazon Prime Day approaches on July 8, NordVPN researchers have identified over 120,000 fake Amazon-related websites launched in the past two months, aiming to scam eager shoppers through phishing, malware, and counterfeit product schemes. The spike in impersonation scams mirrors a reported 80% increase during last year’s event. Amazon urges shoppers to only verify purchases directly on its official site or app and warns that it never asks for payments by email, phone, or gift card. Experts stress maintaining cyber hygiene and avoiding suspicious links during high-traffic sales events.
