OpenAI President Greg Brockman testified at the Elon Musk lawsuit on Monday in an Oakland federal courtroom, confirming for the first time that the company is exploring an initial public offering and disclosing that his personal stake in OpenAI is worth nearly $30B, placing him among the 100 wealthiest people in the world. Brockman also revealed a $471M investment in Stripe (where he used to work), a stake in cloud computing provider CoreWeave, and a financial interest in Sam Altman's family office, which Musk's attorneys used to suggest Brockman was financially motivated to side with Altman. Musk's lawyer Steven Molo grilled Brockman about diary entries including “Financially what will take me to $1B?” and a separate entry that called converting OpenAI's structure without Musk “morally bankrupt,” with Brockman responding that his writings “were an expression of frustration, not a plan.”
