OpenAI hires ServiceNow CMO Colin Fleming to lead business-unit marketing as it scales its enterprise and ad push

OpenAI has hired ServiceNow chief marketing officer Colin Fleming as CMO of its business unit, a move tied to its push to deepen enterprise marketing, according to Adweek. Fleming announced his exit from ServiceNow in a LinkedIn post, calling the decision “gut-wrenching” and saying he would have “regretted not taking the swing.” He spent about two years at ServiceNow following a 13-year run at Salesforce, where he was executive vice president of global marketing. At OpenAI he will report to chief revenue officer Denise Dresser and succeeds Kate Rouch, who stepped down earlier this year to focus on her health. The hire comes as OpenAI scales its enterprise effort, particularly around Codex, which it says has passed 4M weekly active users, and as it builds out advertising products ahead of a potential IPO. Competition is also intensifying: data from expense platform Ramp showed Anthropic's business adoption rising to 34.4% in April while OpenAI's slipped to 32.3%.
