OpenAI asks California and Delaware attorneys general to investigate Elon Musk for anti-competitive behavior

OpenAI chief strategy officer Jason Kwon sent letters to the attorneys general of California and Delaware urging them to investigate what he called “improper and anti-competitive behavior” by Elon Musk, accusing him of repeatedly attempting to seize control of the nonprofit for personal gain. The letter comes weeks before Musk is set to face OpenAI and Microsoft in trial over allegations that the startup betrayed its founding mission as a public charity, with Musk seeking up to $134B in damages. Kwon argued that Musk's lawsuit could undermine agreements both states reached with OpenAI when it finalized its for-profit restructuring in October, which gave Microsoft a 27% ownership stake while keeping the nonprofit arm in control.
