Meta’s Manus launches desktop app for Mac and Windows with AI agent that automates files, apps, and emails

Manus, the AI startup acquired by Meta in December for $2B, has launched a desktop app for Mac and Windows featuring an AI agent called My Computer that can organize files, build apps, run local GPU tasks, and connect to Google apps to perform actions like emailing documents, all requiring user approval before acting. The launch marks a shift from Manus's previous cloud-only operation to running directly on users' computers, putting it in direct competition with OpenClaw, which is free and open-source, and Perplexity's Personal Computer agent. The app is free with limited access, with paid plans starting at $20 per month or $17 per month billed annually.
