Meta is weighing a multibillion-dollar stock offering to fund its AI infrastructure after Alphabet’s $84.75B raise, the Financial Times reports

Meta is weighing a stock offering to raise tens of billions of dollars for its AI ambitions, with talks intensifying after Alphabet pulled off an upsized $84.75B equity raise this week, according to the Financial Times via Reuters. Executives have reportedly been exploring “creative” ways to bring in cash as Meta prepares to sharply raise its AI spending, though the FT cautioned it's premature to say the company has decided anything and all options remain open. Meta shares fell 6.6% on the report.

The move would fit a broader shift in which Big Tech is increasingly tapping debt and equity markets rather than cash to fund AI: Meta filed for a record $30B bond offering in October, struck a $27B financing deal with Blue Owl Capital, and in April lifted its annual capex forecast to $125B to $145B.
