Meta hired Jim Shepherd, Snap's former director of global content partnerships, to bring more celebrities and high-profile creators into its AI device strategy, according to The Hollywood Reporter. At Snap, Shepherd led efforts to build relationships with musicians, sports stars, and other influencers, and he'll now use those connections to get more high-profile users wearing Meta Ray-Bans and posting content filmed through the glasses. Meta's AI glasses have been a hit, with sales rising more than 3x in 2025, at times outpacing supply. The hire comes as Meta develops new wearables, including an AI pendant and AR glasses still slated for 2027, and works to justify its massive AI spending by boosting consumer demand. Shepherd's former employer Snap is preparing to launch its own AR glasses in the near future.
