Lightspeed launched an AI-powered optical character recognition tool built natively into its Retail POS and Scanner app that lets merchants scan or upload supplier packing slips and invoices, automatically extracting SKUs, quantities, pricing, and variants into a draft purchase order without manual data entry. The system matches incoming data against existing catalog records to validate entries and reduce duplicates before inventory is finalized, with retailers able to adjust quantities, approve updates, or export to CSV for bulk edits. The tool is currently available in beta for select customers, with broader availability planned for spring 2026.
