Doublespeed, an a16z-backed startup, suffered a security breach that exposed its operation of over 1,000 smartphones used to manage AI-generated influencers. 404 Media reported that the hack revealed the company used these devices to astroturf TikTok with undisclosed advertisements for products like supplements and apps using fake personas. The attacker claimed to still have access to the backend systems, which allowed control over the smartphones and visibility into the proxies used to evade platform authenticity policies.
