GrubMarket, a San Francisco food supply chain company that also sells software to grocers and distributors, acquired Sustainable Produce Urban Delivery, the online grocer known as SPUD, for an undisclosed amount. SPUD started in Vancouver in 1997 as Small Potatoes Urban Delivery and now buys from more than 800 local farmers, ranchers, fishers, and artisan producers, running three distribution centers totaling over 85,000 square feet in Burnaby, Calgary, and Edmonton plus a refrigerated delivery fleet. Existing management stays on, and SPUD gains access to GrubMarket's purchasing scale and software, including its WholesaleWare ERP platform, GrubAssist AI tools, Orders IO ordering system, and GrubPay. Third Eye Capital, which backed SPUD and joined GrubMarket's Series H round, keeps the Blush Lane Organic Market and Be Fresh Market stores.
