Google’s AI Mode now opens web pages side-by-side with search results and lets users pull context from open Chrome tabs

by | Apr 17, 2026 | E-commerce News

Google rolled out two new features for AI Mode on Chrome desktop, including a side-by-side browsing view that opens clicked links alongside the AI Mode panel so users can ask follow-up questions about a page's content without losing their search context. A second update lets users add open Chrome tabs, images, or files directly into their AI Mode searches via a new plus menu on the New Tab page, enabling queries that draw from multiple sources at once. Both features are available now in the U.S. with plans to expand to additional regions.
