Google TV adds microdrama apps and discovery tools as short-form format goes mainstream

by | Mar 23, 2026 | E-commerce News

Google TV is integrating microdrama content directly into its mobile app, allowing producers to distribute short-form series without building their own streaming infrastructure, according to Juanjo Duran, Google's global head of media and entertainment content partnerships. VeYou, an AI-powered microdrama startup founded by “Top Gun: Maverick” producer Tommy Harper, is among the partners using the platform, with Harper describing his content ambition as “HBO mashed up with TikTok.” The push comes as Disney+ and Peacock have also announced microdrama formats, signaling the genre is moving beyond niche apps and into mainstream streaming platforms.
