Google has officially retired the Fitbit app and replaced it with Google Health, a redesigned experience built around an AI health coach, and the early user response has been heavily critical, according to The Verge. Alongside the launch of the new Fitbit Air wearable, the switch reorganizes the app so that much of the main screen is given over to AI coaching notes and recent-activity updates rather than the stats and tracking data users previously saw by scrolling the home page. Reddit threads and Google's own help forum filled with complaints, with users calling the app a disappointment, objecting to having to scroll past AI-generated commentary to reach their numbers, and asking how to get the old app back. Not all feedback was negative, with some users praising the AI coach for building custom workouts. The AI bot can be disabled within the app's Feature Privacy Controls.
