Google released a native Gemini app for Mac that lets users pull up the assistant from anywhere on their computer with an Option + Space shortcut, share their screen for in-context help, and access local files without switching tabs. The app also supports image generation via Imagen and video generation via Veo, and is available today to all Gemini users on macOS 15 and up. The launch puts Google on par with OpenAI and Anthropic, both of which have had native Mac apps for some time.
