Google disclosed in a quarterly filing Thursday that it holds $94.1B in SpaceX stock, roughly 6% of the company. Sale restrictions cover nearly all of it, with $80B locked up short-term and $14.1B restricted through the third quarter of 2027, standard terms for investors who receive shares around an IPO, according to the WSJ. Unrealized gains on the SpaceX position and one other private holding drove much of Alphabet's quarter, which carried $98B in other income tied largely to its equity securities portfolio. SpaceX went public on the Nasdaq June 12 at $135 a share in an $86.2B offering, the largest IPO on record, and recently traded at $112.13 for a market cap near $1.52T. Google and SpaceX were in talks in May about a rocket-launch deal to build orbital data centers.
