Google announced Gemini Intelligence at its Android Show presentation, a deeper integration of its AI assistant into Android that lets Gemini handle routine tasks across apps like filling out forms, scheduling appointments, and making reservations without users having to bounce between apps. The feature can create shopping orders from notes apps, autofill complex forms using information stored in connected apps like Google Drive, find tours from photos of brochures, generate custom widgets based on simple prompts, and works across Android Auto, Wear OS, and Google's smart glasses for a unified experience. Gemini Intelligence will first arrive on Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones later this summer, putting Google in direct competition with rumored AI-first smartphones from OpenAI (reportedly entering mass production in the first half of 2027) and Amazon (reportedly eyeing a reentry into the smartphone market with an AI-focused handset).
