Google CEO Sundar Pichai acknowledged that one of the company's AI Overview results was “more opinionated than it should be” during an appearance on the “Decoder with Nilay Patel” podcast. The host walked through a query for “best Chromebook,” in which the AI Overview surfaced the Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714, while the top organic result, from Reddit, gave a different answer. Pichai said there was “scope for improvement” in that result, and floated the possibility that the AI Overview had been personalized to Patel's own search behavior. He also said Google has added more website links to AI Overviews since launching the feature. The comments land as Google extends its AI push deeper into Search by folding in features from AI Mode, including follow-up questions and “information agents” that can run searches automatically.
