Google adds a Skills feature to Gemini in Chrome that lets users save and reuse frequently entered prompts as templates

by | Apr 15, 2026 | E-commerce News

Google rolled out Skills, a new feature in the Gemini sidebar built into Chrome that lets users turn frequently used prompts into reusable templates, accessible by typing a forward slash or clicking a plus button in the sidebar. A single Skill can contain multiple instructions and can be applied across multiple tabs, and Google has also released a prompt library with more than 50 pre-built Skills covering tasks like summarizing YouTube videos and gift recommendations. The feature is available on Mac, Windows, and ChromeOS with Chrome set to U.S. English, and follows Google's February launch of Auto Browse, an AI agent in Chrome that can automate tasks like comparing e-commerce listings and filling forms.
