Fiserv named Takis Georgakopoulos its CEO effective immediately after Mike Lyons abruptly stepped down to become CEO of Truist Financial, making Georgakopoulos the payments-technology giant's second chief executive in as many years. Lyons, who took the top job in May 2025, leaves as Fiserv works to recover from a surprise earnings slump that has sent its stock down more than 70% over the past year, with shares falling another 7% on the news despite the company reaffirming its 2026 guidance. Georgakopoulos joined Fiserv in 2024 from JPMorgan, where he was global head of payments, and most recently ran its technology and merchant solutions unit, where the board credited him with accelerating the Clover platform and embedding AI across Fiserv's infrastructure. Analysts called the change a surprise that adds uncertainty to Fiserv's turnaround.
