Facebook tests creator-only post view counts, a metric Meta already uses on Instagram and Threads to push views over likes

by | Jul 8, 2026 | Latest E-commerce News & Updates

Facebook is testing an up-front post view count that displays on posts, visible for now only to the creator, according to a Meta confirmation to Social Media Today. Professional Mode creators already see the count, while a more limited test runs for regular profiles. Meta already shows view counts on Instagram and Threads and has pushed views as a better engagement signal than likes or follower counts, arguing that AI recommendations now fill much of users' feeds with posts from accounts they don't follow. Facebook's usage has been declining, and displaying low view counts could further discourage people from posting.
