eBay is closing its San Francisco office when its lease expires in September and relocating roughly 200 employees to its San Jose HQ

eBay filed notice with California officials this week that it will close its office at 300 Mission Street in San Francisco when its lease expires September 30, with approximately 198 software engineers, applied researchers, directors, and financial analysts to be reassigned to the company's San Jose headquarters rather than laid off. The closure follows eBay's February layoff of roughly 800 employees, including 28 workers at the San Francisco location and 243 in San Jose. eBay Canada, by contrast, recently moved into a new waterfront office in Toronto as the company ramps up hiring to support eBay Live and consumer-to-consumer initiatives in the region.
