Carbonfact, a Paris-based carbon management software provider for the fashion industry, acquired Berlin-based product impact platform Vaayu to create a single product-level environmental dataset for the sector. Carbonfact, founded in 2021, helps apparel, luxury, and footwear brands measure, report, and reduce emissions, with over 200 customers including On, Ganni, The North Face, Burton, and Marc O'Polo. Vaayu, launched in 2020 by former Zalando sustainability executive Namrata Sandhu, builds AI-powered software for tracking emissions across products, packaging, logistics, and supply chains. The combined platform will include 150,000 fashion-specific emission factors, primary data from over 7,000 textile factories, and more than 300 brand customers. The deal lands as fashion brands face new rules including the EU's Digital Product Passport, the French Eco-Score, and California's SB253, with regulators pushing reporting toward product-level data. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
