ByteDance backs OpenClaw’s official China marketplace launch, upping its rivalry with Tencent

ByteDance is providing cloud infrastructure to host an official Chinese-language version of ClawHub, the marketplace operated by OpenClaw that lets users find and install skills files that expand AI agents' capabilities. The move intensifies ByteDance's rivalry with Tencent, which last month launched SkillHub, an unofficial localized ClawHub clone, drawing public criticism from OpenClaw creator Peter Steinberger for benefiting from the open-source project without contributing back. Tencent has since tried to repair the relationship, making a donation to OpenClaw via GitHub and arranging a meeting between a senior executive and Steinberger in California to discuss potential collaborations, according to The Information.
