Anthropic’s Pentagon blacklist lawsuit heads toward a ruling as a federal judge says the government’s case has only gotten worse

Anthropic's challenge to the Pentagon's supply-chain risk designation went before U.S. District Judge Rita Lin on Thursday, who said the government's argument had gotten worse rather than better, according to Axios. The Pentagon applied the “supply-chain risk” label earlier this year after Anthropic refused to let the military use Claude for mass surveillance or fully autonomous weapons. However, Lin said she saw no evidence Anthropic could alter a model after delivery or “flip some kind of kill switch,” which is what the “supply-chain risk” label implies. Both sides have moved for summary judgment, and Lin issued no ruling from the bench.
