Anthropic signs deal with SpaceX for 300 megawatts of compute capacity to power surging Claude Code demand

Anthropic announced a new deal with SpaceX for 300 megawatts of computing capacity at the Memphis-based Colossus One data center, which will be used to meet surging demand for the company's AI coding service Claude Code. The deal, announced by Anthropic Chief Product Officer Ami Vora at the company's developer conference in San Francisco on Wednesday, is expected to deliver capacity within the month across more than 220,000 Nvidia GPUs. Anthropic is also doubling the current 5-hour rate limit for developers on Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans, and raising rate limits for developers using the Claude Opus model's API. The deal marks a notable thaw between Anthropic and SpaceX owner Elon Musk, who as recently as February called Claude “misanthropic and evil” but wrote on X this week that “no one set off my evil detector” after meeting with Anthropic leaders.
