Anthropic halves its list of unauthorized stock-trading platforms after pushback from Hiive and confusion among investors

Anthropic cut its list of unauthorized secondary market platforms in half after the original warning caused panic among investors and drew a rebuttal from one of the companies named, per Bloomberg. The blog originally flagged eight firms as unauthorized to buy or sell its shares in violation of transfer restrictions, with Anthropic noting any such sale would be void and not recognized on its books. The updated version names just four firms: Open Door Partners, Unicorns Exchange, Pachamama, and Upmarket, removing some of the bigger names in private market trading. Hiive CEO Sim Desai, whose platform was initially named, wrote on LinkedIn that Hiive doesn't facilitate share transfers without Anthropic's approval, and said the original post damaged Hiive's reputation. He added that had Anthropic approached Hiive before going public with the warning, the two could have worked together on a unified message.
