Anthropic confidentially filed for an initial public offering on Monday, joining SpaceX and OpenAI among the high-profile companies racing to go public this year. The filing came days after Anthropic surpassed OpenAI as the world's most valuable AI startup with $65B in new financing at a $965B valuation, and the company said its revenue run rate crossed $47B in May, driven largely by demand for its coding tools. Anthropic said the filing gives it the option to go public following an SEC review, but didn't disclose timing or size, noting the deal would depend on market conditions. A public offering could happen as soon as this fall, putting Anthropic ahead of OpenAI, which is expected to file within weeks.
