Anthropic confirmed it accidentally exposed part of the internal source code for Claude Code, its AI coding assistant, due to a packaging error caused by human error, with a post on X linking to the leaked code accumulating more than 21 million views within hours. The company said no sensitive customer data or credentials were involved, but the leak could give competitors meaningful insight into how Anthropic built the tool. The incident follows a separate data exposure reported by Fortune last week, in which descriptions of an upcoming Anthropic AI model were found in a publicly accessible data cache.
