American Express has agreed to buy TheFork, a European restaurant reservation and management platform, from Tripadvisor for $700M in cash, deepening its dining push across Europe. The deal builds on Amex's earlier acquisitions of reservation apps Resy and Tock, and the company expects the three platforms together to cover 75,000 bookable venues. Founded in 2007, TheFork connects diners with more than 50,000 restaurants across 11 European countries. It would keep its existing leadership team, and Amex expects the deal to close before the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approval and a labor consultation.
