Amazon has launched more than 100 urban fulfilment centres across five major Indian cities, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad, to speed up delivery ahead of Prime Day, which starts June 23. The larger-format centres build on Amazon Now, its quick-commerce service that recently expanded to 100 cities with more than 1,000 micro fulfilment centres, and Amazon says they bring four times the assortment to customers' doorsteps in minutes. The new sites widen fast delivery beyond groceries into categories like apparel, electronics, jewelry, and furniture, part of a roughly $300M investment to strengthen Amazon's operations network and its delivery workforce. That spending also covers Ashray rest points for delivery workers regardless of which company employs them, offering air-conditioned seating, water, and charging, which Amazon plans to grow from 100 to 250 sites this year.
