Amazon barred Rachael Bews, the head of a marketing firm, from an in-person session of its six-week business course after refusing to let her breastfeeding baby onto the Dunfermline, Scotland warehouse where the event was held. Bews said she had given Amazon a week's notice that she would need to bring her 20-week-old, but was told by phone while traveling to the event that children under six are not allowed on fulfillment-center sites. Amazon apologized for not communicating the policy before she traveled, calling it a long-standing health-and-safety rule and saying it is reviewing its communications process. Bews could still take the online portion of the course but said she missed key in-person networking, calling for events to better consider accessibility for working parents.
