Amazon acquires George Washington University’s Virginia Science and Technology campus for $427M

Amazon acquired the Virginia Science and Technology campus from George Washington University, a U.S. educational institution, for $427 million. The tech giant secured the Ashburn site to construct a new data center as it is expanding its artificial intelligence infrastructure across the state. University officials stated that the transaction provided necessary capital, but they are still planning further cost reductions to resolve an underlying structural deficit.
