Airwallex acquires Paynuri to secure South Korea payment licenses

Airwallex acquired South Korean payments firm Paynuri to secure local licenses and operate directly in the country. The fintech plans to launch global business accounts and payment services in the region later this year without relying on third-party intermediaries. The deal follows a recent funding round that valued the company at $8 billion.
